Transparency, lightness, airiness, substance, immobility, movement.
With these six words we illustrate the collection presented at the Fuorisalone 2017 by Rossana Gallo, an artist who was able to give life to a new language, declined in the world of design and furnishing. Components of furniture that are and are not there, as drawn images on the humidity of a window, created to enrich an environment without filling it, especially suited for tight spaces in which the elements must interact in a breezy manner.
Each element is not only an object that performs its function, but is a world that contains its own story. The artist is interested in stopping the moment of maximum expression of each of these stories, in order to be able to share it with the viewer, imprisoning it and making it eternal. Fabrics and colors play a vital role, in a performance that links gestures and words.
Rossana used different materials of common use but she did not only assemble them: she had the ability to transfer feelings in strong and essential images with the use of communicating tools, with the aim of inspiring content without redundant signs. Rossana’s transparencies speak of mixed feelings: anger, sorrow, joy, expectation, melancholy, love. Trapped in plexiglass, wool, ropes, gold and silver ribbons assume a conceptual value and in their movements they carry fragments of past lives.
