We carry a passion for user centered design and natural interfaces. Our products embody design research, material exploration and new electronic engineering solutions for contemporary user experiences We imagined our company around three pivots: made in Italy, animism and ambient intelligence. Made in Italy Italy is a country with an ancient history, well known in all the world for its attention to beauty and quality. Many artisanal techniques have been ideated in Italy and this set of skills is the secret to create the magic of Made in Italy. THINGK is proud to be an Italian company, and the know how of our craftmans is a fundamental inspiration for our everyday work. It is thanks to this know how that we are able to use high quality material, like wood, leather, silk, cotton. It is thanks to this know how that we create beautiful objects. Animism One of the most ancient forms of spirituality is animism. The tenet of animism is that, in addition to all living beings, also objects and natural phenomena have a soul, a vital principle. Even if modern science has completely disproved any foundation for animism, the majority of people “believes”, even though at a subconscious level. There are people who talk to their car, or with their computer. There are people who assign to objects a will of their own, saying, for example, “my radio doesn’t want to tune in on that station”. People expect objects, at least the more complicated ones, to behave in an “intelligent” manner, or at least “intelligible” Ambient intelligence In the computing field, ambient intelligence refers to electronic environments that are sensitive and responsive to the presence of people. Ambient intelligence is a vision on the future of consumer electronics, telecommunications and computing that was originally developed in the late 1990s for the time frame 2010–2020. In an ambient intelligence world, devices work in concert to support people in carrying out their everyday life activities, tasks and rituals in an easy, natural way using information and intelligence that is hidden in the network connecting these devices. As these devices grow smaller, more connected and more integrated into our environment, the technology disappears into our surroundings until only the user interface remains perceivable by users.
